About Me
Transfer Student from DCCC & SCC with 2 Associate Degrees, one in graphic design. I'm pursing my BFA for Graphic Design here at ASU and have a love for fine art as well. I paint, draw, and now I'm learning sculpture (in class). I've been in CAM at Wilmington, and currently have a big piece at the HQ of NC Community College Office in Raleigh, NC. I'm looking to put more of my artwork out in the community and local exhibits both on and off campus. A tiny bit of background. Two years ago I really got into Leadership and last school year 2012-13 I was in Student Government Association and had also started a Visual Arts & Graphic Design club on campus at DCCC called Acrylix. We had 50+ members and had two Silent Art Auctions, 3 Art/Design Exhibits, and 2 Community Service Projects. I look forward to getting involved on campus here just as I did at the community college level. About Me
I made my first quilt on grandma's treadle sewing machine with I was 15 and I have remained fascinated with the art of sewing ever since. Except for some long breaks for school, family, and career I managed to squeak out a little time for sewing classes. Now after devoting myself to my accounting career and spending the last 30 years working in offices I want to pursue a full time career in the arts and do what I love. In addition to quilting I also make purses and totes, decorate pillows, and do machine embroidery. My husband has also taken an interest in crafts and is making soy candles, hand made soaps, wax dipped bears, and some wood working. |

I am a metalsmith/jewelry maker, soon to be completing my BFA in Studio Art from Appalachian State University. I make unique pieces of jewelry from intricate metalwork to basic beading, using organic material and indepth processes such as casting and hand fabricating whenever possible, and natural gemstones and quality material to create all my pieces. I also would like to thank AMO for continuing to provide the makers of the High Country with this fantastic event, I have participated in the past three Handmade Markets and each time I am blown away with the endlessly helpful members of AMO and how smoothly they get it all to run. |
