About Me

Originally from Louisiana I've dreamed of living in the mountains since I was a little girl.  It took Hurricane Katrina to bring me to Boone, therefore I believe everything happens according to Gods' plan.

I am a flamework artist skilled in melting colorful glass rods on a torch and winding them into  one of  a kind glass beads.   I've been making  beads and teaching the skill for about 19 years.  I'm a retired high school art teacher and I learned flameworking when I obtained a grant to have an artist in residence come and teach us about everything glass.  Flameworking really caught on with my students and me (who'd a thunk it....children playing with fire :P), so I continued to teach it to more students for the following years.  Since then, I've taught for different craft studios and privately.  I love teaching almost as much as I love making the beads myself!

So now I have an Etsy site, an ArtFire site and occasionally use eBay to sell my wares.  I haven't graduated to being a circuit exhibitor, but maybe one day I'll do it.

I am so glad that this group has started and I look forward to learning and sharing.

Hey Grace,
Love your glass work! I havent gotten a chance to post any new pictures, but hopefully once the semester calms down I will get a chance to. I would definitely love to collaborate with you! Is there anything you are particularly interested in doing? Once again you have really beautiful work. Hope you are having a great start to the holiday season.
